Xenon Technology:

History

Invented in 1990, and started to be used in the automotive industry in the 1995, the Xenon lighting or HID ( High Intensity Discharge), has been improving for the past years.

Principle:

A very high electric discharge from 8000 to 25000 volts goes through an arc that warms tube filled up with Xenon gaz. The warm of this gaz produces an outstanding birght light, close to daylight color. In order to get this system up and running under 12 or 24 volts electric system, a ballast (small electronic unit that act like a transformer) is used to convert and maintain sufficient voltage to the Xenon bulb by using only 35 Watts!

Performances:

  • 3 times more light than standard halogen
  • Lifetime is increase by 5 (3000hours for xenon and 500hours for halogen)
  • Consumption is divided by two (35W for Xenon and 70W for halogen)
